The National Aero Club

The National Aero Club is the representative body for all air sports in Ireland and is affiliated to the FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) the world air sports federation. The National Aero Club oversees the participation of Irish aviators at World and European championships and validates record attempts on behalf of the FAI.

The National Aero Club of Ireland can trace its roots back to a meeting held at the Irish Automobile Club offices in Dawson Street, Dublin on 5th November 1909 when the Irish Aero Club was formed.

The NACI has approximately 1400 members and is administered by a council drawn from all the affiliated organisations;

  • Classic Aircraft and Aerobatic Club of Ireland
  • Irish Ballooning Association
  • Irish Gliding and Soaring Association
  • Irish Hang Gliding and Para Gliding Association
  • Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland
  • National Association for Sporting and Recreational Aviation
  • National Microlight Association of Ireland
  • Parachute Association of Ireland
  • Society of Amateur Aircraft Constructors

The aim of the National Aero Club is to promote and develop all forms of sport aviation in Ireland.

The Air Education section of the NACI encourages young people to participate in sport aviation through initiatives aimed at students in schools, colleges and universities.
