The 1st MIDNIGHT BALLOON RALLY took place in Jyväskylä, Finland from 24 to 28 June 2009

20 balloon teams from 8 countries including China, UK, Lithuania and Estonia took part in this unusual ballooning event.

 

If the sky is clear, the nights are so bright that flying is possible and legal. The flight area is somewhat demanding because

it is dominated by forest, bogs and lakes.

The organisers or the event Arctic Balloon Team hopes that the Midnight Balloon Rally will become known as one of the most

interesting international balloon events and be held annualy providing a unique chance for balloon flights during the

white nights of Finnish midsummer.
